Scanning a stack double-sided doubles the page count, half of it empty. Removing them by hand on a hundred-page document is tedious and error-prone.
How it works
Drop your file on the page, or click to pick it from your folders.
Start the job. It runs inside your browser: nothing is sent to a server.
Download the result. No account, no watermark, no queue.
When this really helps
Clean up a double-sided scan
The commonest case, and the one that saves the most pages.
Lighten an archive
Fewer pages means a smaller file to send.
Prepare a print run
Avoid wasting paper on empty sheets.
What the conversion keeps, and what it loses
Working inside a browser comes with limits a hosted service does not have. Here they are in plain words, so you know what to expect before you start.
What is kept
- Every page carrying content
- Their order and orientation
- Selectable text
- The original quality
What is not carried over
- Pages judged blank, listed in the report
- A page bearing only a very faint mark, on strict sensitivity
- Deliberately empty pages of a laid-out document
Worth knowing about the format
Each page is rendered small, then the share of pixels distinctly darker than the background is measured. Above the threshold, the page is kept. The threshold is what the sensitivity setting changes.
Not the right tool?
- Delete pages — Pour choisir vous-même les pages à retirer.
- Compress a PDF — Pour alléger davantage un scan volumineux.
- Scanned PDF to text — Pour rendre cherchable le scan une fois nettoyé.
Why it's free
Online converters receive your file on their servers, process it, then promise to delete it. Every document costs them computing time: that is why they charge, and why they cap file sizes.
Here, the work happens on your own computer. The page contains no server code: your document cannot be received, because it is never sent. So there is nothing to bill, nothing to cap, and nothing to delete afterwards. Cut your connection once the page has loaded — everything keeps working.
Frequently asked questions
What if a useful page gets removed?
Pick strict sensitivity: only near-immaculate pages are dropped. The report always lists the page numbers removed, so you can check.
Why are my empty pages not detected?
Your scanner probably leaves grain or an edge shadow. Switch to tolerant sensitivity.
Is the document changed in any other way?
No. Kept pages are copied as they are, with no re-encoding and no loss.
Other tools
Edit the text in a PDF — Fix a line that is already written, even on a scanned document. This is the feature other services charge for, and the natural starting point when you need to retouch before converting.
