Licence and source code
VoilàPDF is free software released under the GNU AGPL version 3. The complete source code is on GitHub.
You may use, study, modify and redistribute it, including commercially. The condition is article 13 of that licence: if you run a modified version reachable over a network, you must offer its source code to that version’s users.
Bundled third-party libraries keep their own licences: pdf.js and tesseract.js under Apache 2.0, pdf-lib and fflate under MIT, transformers.js under Apache 2.0. Details are in the repository README.
Limits of the service
The tools are provided free of charge and without warranty, in line with the licence. Every tool page states precisely what the conversion keeps and what it loses; those limits are real and documented, and worth reading before you process an important document.
Two points bear repeating here. Editing text covers the old content without removing it from the file: that is not redaction. The handwritten signature offered is the digital equivalent of initialling a page, not a qualified electronic signature under the eIDAS regulation.
Always keep a copy of your original documents.
Personal data
Data processing is described on the Privacy page. In short: no cookies, no analytics, and your documents do not leave your computer.
