Sending a .docx means accepting that the layout shifts from one computer to the next, and that the recipient can change the words. A PDF freezes both: that is why quotes, contracts and applications travel in this form.
How it works
Drop your file on the page, or click to pick it from your folders.
Start the job. It runs inside your browser: nothing is sent to a server.
Download the result. No account, no watermark, no queue.
When this really helps
Send a quote or a contract
The document arrives exactly as you designed it, with no pagination drift.
Submit an application
Most hiring platforms explicitly ask for a PDF.
Archive a final version
A PDF still reads in ten years without depending on your Word version.
What the conversion keeps, and what it loses
Working inside a browser comes with limits a hosted service does not have. Here they are in plain words, so you know what to expect before you start.
What is kept
- The text, with bold, italic and sizes
- Left, centre and right alignment
- Simple tables, redrawn with their borders
- Images placed in the flow of the text
What is not carried over
- Headers, footers and page numbers
- Columns, frames and text boxes
- The exact fonts, replaced by standard equivalents
- Footnotes and the table of contents
Need the other direction? PDF → Word does exactly the opposite, with the same guarantees.
Worth knowing about the format
A PDF describes a page as a fixed surface: positions, fonts and images are frozen. That is what makes it render identically everywhere, and what makes it hard to edit — so keep your .docx as the source.
Not the right tool?
Why it's free
Online converters receive your file on their servers, process it, then promise to delete it. Every document costs them computing time: that is why they charge, and why they cap file sizes.
Here, the work happens on your own computer. The page contains no server code: your document cannot be received, because it is never sent. So there is nothing to bill, nothing to cap, and nothing to delete afterwards. Cut your connection once the page has loaded — everything keeps working.
Frequently asked questions
Are my document fonts respected?
The text is rewritten in the PDF standard fonts: a sans-serif close to Helvetica, a serif close to Times, and a monospace. The overall look is respected, the exact letterforms are not.
Does the old .doc format work?
No, only .docx. The older .doc is a closed binary format a browser cannot read reliably. Save it again as .docx from Word or LibreOffice.
My document is sixty pages, is that a problem?
No. Text is laid out as it flows and pages are added automatically. No size limit is imposed, since the work happens on your machine.
Other tools
Edit the text in a PDF — Fix a line that is already written, even on a scanned document. This is the feature other services charge for, and the natural starting point when you need to retouch before converting.
